A unique festival in Houston! Art, education and culture unite to bring Spanish and Flamenco arts to the people of Houston. Solero Flamenco, San Jacinto College South and the Consulate General of Spain present the 2012 Houston Spanish & Flamenco Festival, May 23-26!

Featuring workshops and performances: by Omayra Amaya Flamenco Dance Company, Roberto Castellon, Curro Cueto, Jose Moreno, Salvadora Galan, Teo Morca, Solero Flamenco, Irma La Paloma, Jeremias Garcia, Solangel Lali Calix, Edith Nino, Ma. Fernanda Urbaez, Chris Howard.

Salvadora Galán in Concert

Salvadora Galán trasnports audiences to another time and place with the rustic sound and emotion of her song. She accompanies herself on the guitar and keeps alive the tradition and art of “cante jondo” or deep song. This unique and acclaimed artist enjoys the respect and admiration of the global flamenco community.

Solero Flamenco presents “Festival” featuring Maestro Teo Morca

Houston’s premier flamenco performing company, Solero Flamenco, is pleased to present “Festival” featuring Maestro Teo Morca! A renowned dancer of international acclaim, Morca will delight audiences with his charm and elegance. With trademark passion and spontaneity, Irma La Paloma and Jeremías García will provide the vocal and musical framework for the artistry of dancers Solangel Lali Calix, Edith Niño and percussionists Chris Howard, Solomon García and Andrés Felix.

Omayra Amaya Flamenco Dance Company

Omayra Amaya, grandniece to the legendary Carmen Amaya, fulfills the legacy of her gypsy lineage with her commanding dance and artistry.

Joining her in the first Houston presentation of “Intimo” is the all star cast of the Omayra Amaya Flamenco Dance Company headlined by guitarist and composer Roberto Castellón; from Seville, Spain, acclaimed cantaor Pedro Corona Heredia “Curro Cueto;” and percussionist José Moreno.

The second celebration of the Houston Spanish and Flamenco Festival culmimates with this world class presentation!
